So ill start this place off with an introduction to the world of Sound Mixing and Creation. Sound Mixing is when you compile a set of Audio files into one and make it sound like something people would want to hear, for example: taking a couple of loop files to make a nice cut. while sound creation is when you use something like adobe audition to Engineer a new sound from scratch, that is done by adding Effects to generated waves.

lets get a little deeper in the process, Which programs should you use, I myself found Sony's ACID to be the easiest tool, Its very simple and the outcome was amazingly balanced, but as most people will tell you its a n00b's tool. I also use Audition for sound mastering, Wave editing and for many other things, the difference between ACID and Audition is like the difference between Fireworks and Illustrator, they both can draw a perfect circle, but one of them is too complicated, and that is Audition, its just the pros tool, with its Effects library you can simple do anything you could dream off, from mastering effects, restoration effects, amplitude and magnitude effects, amongst many others.

I know you might be wondering if you have nothing to do with sound engineering, and you don't even know whats a decibel but you still wanna make music what should you do? well you answer is simple, you use programs such as Fruity Loops, its not gay i checked, FL is a Loop generating program, a Loop is an audio file the end where it took off, meaning it should make the same sound over and over again without you noticing any sorts of glitches in transition, so you make the loops in Fruity loops which is really easy, export them to a proper program with multi-track editing, and mix the loops together to make music.

Of course there are other programs that people use, if you are using a mac then you should totally check out the Final Cut Studio, its super l337. Sony Sound Forge, adobe Sound Booth.
if your looking for a free program for sound editing check out Audacity, also remember to get yourself a DJ virtual set, to get used to the look of all the buttons and the nubs. now go around and have fun

oh right you can download the loops in WAV format or MIDI, wav has a huge quality difference and midi can have loads of effects applied to them on the spot, so have a look around and enjoy
